Helping You Decorate Your Three-Year-Old Daughter’s
Room

Your daughter will be blowing her three candles by next week. Officially, that makes you the parent of a three-year-old by then. So what’s the big deal, it’s not like she’ll be turning eighteen or anything. She has just turned three, still fifteen years away from the age of liberation where most kids make a big deal out of.

But wait, you do have a good reason to mark this as fairly significant as a debut. You got past the “terrible twos”! And if at this time your girl is having good progress on making her way to the bathroom each time she needs to pooh-pooh, then that’s still another reason to gloat over! These are just two of the several reasons for you to rejoice your three-year-old’s birthday. And like what most parents do, you are itching over something you can’t quite put your finger on.

When you stand in the doorway of your child’s room, it begins to take shape. Her room looks too babyish. It is then you decide to do a little household chore of your own. You redecorate. We offer you then the following step-by-step pointers that just might be able to help should you decide to do so.

·By this time, your child might have already accumulated enough toys to fill an average toy store. Toys, knick-knacks, and whatnots that seemed to have lost their value already, like teethers, baby blankets, musical chimes, etc., should either be given away or put in storage to maximize space in the child’s bedroom. Toys that are currently in use should be placed in pink toy box for aesthetic purposes.

·Should you decide to add some things to the child’s room, we recommend a small table and chair where the child can doodle or do some artwork with her art materials placed nearby. Remember, your child is well on her way to preschool and it would be a good idea to have her education start early at home with the parents as the first teachers while they have quality time with the child as well especially if both parents work.

·It might also be necessary to make some updates with the bookcase as well, especially the baby books that you used to read to her in the past few years where by now your child might have already outgrown. Try to start giving her books that involves activity, like coloring books or drawing books.

·If rearrangements are to be made, maximization of space should be considered especially that the child tends to be quite active at this stage. This is actually where a parent can exercise his or her judgment with regard to interior decorating: while space is maximized, the aesthetic quality should not be sacrificed.

Redecorating your tot’s bedroom does not need to be anything drastic and expensive. As long as it has become quite organized and the child seems to be happy with the changes (perhaps because you have not thought about throwing out her favorite baby toy box), then you have certainly given your child the best pink toy chest for her birthday there ever is.
