5 Things you can teach your child with his toys

Many say that the best way to teach your child different lessons are through their toys. Toys are some of their constant companions. It also keeps them occupied most of the time. Surely, if you want to teach your child new things, do it with toys.

Through toys, you can teach your child basic academic topics like counting, color identification, and simple mathematic equation like addition and subtraction. Basic academic information is not the only things your child can learn from the things found in his wood toy boxes. Below is a list of the other things they can learn:

  1. Teach your child to be creative with toys. Although children are naturally imaginative, they need things to aid their imagination. They also need assistance to enhance their imaginative skills. If your child is bored with the toys he currently have, teach him different things to spice them up. You can suggest a certain situation where he can use his toys in his make believe games. You can also help him paint his toys and use it as decoration on his toy boxes.
  2. After showing your child what he can do with his toys, you can tell him the importance of taking care of them. If he has a damaged toy, use it as an example. Tell him that all his toys will end up like that if he will not value them. The curiosity of your child is sometimes the reason why he destroys his toys. However, you should not tolerate how he rips his toys apart. Use his wooden toy boxes to segregate the toys he can break and build like bricks and puzzles.
  3. Train your child to organize his things starting with his toys. Clutter is expected whenever there are children at home but you can minimize if not change this. If your child learns how to keep his toys after he plays, you will not need to pick after them.
  4. Organizing will teach your child to be responsible. If he forgets to organize his toys, remind him. Show him the clutter and his empty cheap toy boxes. Let him know that if he will not do his share, someone will have to work extra to finish what he did not do. Instructing him to be in charge of his toys will give him the impression that he has a role to portray in keeping the house clean.
  5. Item number four will guide your child to become obedient. In the future, he will not follow your instructions because you forced him to but because he is willing to do it. In addition, he will not wait for you to tell him what to do because he feels responsible for it just as he was responsible in keeping his toy boxorganized.
There are so many things that your child can learn from toys aside from having fun. You can teach him to count or identify colors. Most importantly, you can teach him important values like being responsible and caring for his belongings.
